If your skin gets oily by mid-day and breakouts keep coming back, two ingredients come up again and again: niacinamide and salicylic acid. Here’s what each one does, and why they’re often used together.
Niacinamide: balance and evenness
Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3. In skincare it is used to help improve the look of excess oil, enlarged-looking pores and uneven tone. It is generally well tolerated, which makes it a good everyday active.
Salicylic acid: inside the pore
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Because it is oil-soluble, it can work inside the pore to help exfoliate and keep pores clearer-looking — useful for oily and acne-prone skin.
Why use them together?
Niacinamide supports balance while salicylic acid helps with congestion, so together they target two sides of the same problem. The DRAAN Acne & Brightening Bi-Phase Serum combines Niacinamide 3% and Salicylic Acid 2% with Propolis, Betaine 2% and Rosehip Oil for hydration and comfort.
How to use
- Shake the bottle to blend both phases.
- Apply 3–5 drops to clean, dry skin.
- Follow with moisturiser, and always use sunscreen in the day — exfoliating actives can make skin more sun-sensitive.
